Noordbaak Thumbs Up Africa goes to school: a pilot project with Noordbaak
Thumbs Up Africa’s goal is to see where we stand in reaching a sustainable society. In order to reach our younger followers in the age of 14-18, the Thumbs Up Foundation, in collaboration with Noordbaak, has been busy with setting up a pilot project for high schools in the Province of Groningen, the Netherlands. In this school project, high school students will follow the adventures of the hitchhikers in search of answers regarding the sustainability of our global society. They will have the opportunity to experience a real-live multicast, in which they can pose their questions to and get in direct dialogue with the people that the hitchhikers come across during their journey! During this class, they are introduced to different themes surrounding sustainability, from Women’s Rights to Climate Change and from Child Labour to Water and Sanitation. They will then actively discuss these themes within their class while reflecting on how these themes are reflected in their own environment and can be influenced by their own choices.

Thumbs Up Africa is happy to say that we have found a partner in NoordBaak to collaborate with us on this project! NoordBaak is the name of the former Centre for International Development (COS) and is located in Groningen. It supports Dutch companies, governmental and educational institutions towards sustainable development. With the guidance and support of Noordbaak, we will launch Thumbs Up Africa’s school project as a pilot in the Province of Groningen, starting in October 2012.
