Hello all,

Western Michigan is looking at using the GHCraft 16" rims for our next vehicle and we need to look at the rim profile in order to continue suspension and hub design. Does anyone have 3D CAD files of the newer generation 16" rims? We have files for the older generation 14" rims (flat dish profile) and most of the files on GHCraft's website are so messy that a recreation based on the files would be time consuming and inaccurate.

Any feedback from teams using the new rims is also welcome so we know what we're potentially getting ourselves into. We've enjoyed the 14" rims we have currently, but I'm not to sure how well the new profile works for integration to designs and servicing during tire changes.

Many thanks in advance and good luck to the WSC teams!

Hi, Joshua

CalSol has CADs for the 16" rims.
I'll be posting the file here sometime soon.

Feedback:
Servicing Dunlop SolarMax D850 tires is a real pain. Our most experienced tire changers could change one tire in 20 minutes at best. Even then, we would usually take about 30 minutes to change each. Schwalbe Energizer S tires are significantly easier.

Hi, sorry about the large delay.

I've attached the file for the rims.

Derek,

Thanks for the file! It looks great and it will definitely save us a ton of time trying to rebuild it ourselves. The delay wasn't an inconvenience, especially since you've saved us time in the long run. And thanks for the heads up on the Dunlops. We'll look into trying several different tire types from a service and performance standpoint before committing to a style.

Hello all,

Has somebody a mail or something else to contact GHcraft ? Helios is currently trying to contact them in order to buy some carbon wheels but we don't have any response when we contact them thanks to their website.

Many thanks in advance.

Does anyone have recent feedback on ordering from GHCraft? WMU hasn't talked with them since 2001, so I'm interested in hearing how others have managed recently.

I've also got a rebuilt version of Derek's file. From how I interpreted the GHCraft detail drawings and orthographic images, I came up with a different geometry at the center mounting hub area. I also tossed in the valve stem and aero cover that GH offers as an accessory for these rims. Feedback on the model is more than welcome. The Dropbox link below goes to a folder that contains 2 Solidworks 2013 files (original and "compressed" lightweight versions), a STEP export of the model, and a zip folder with all three files. I would have simply put them as attachments on this post, but they were too large.
