The purpose of this mail is to invite you and members from your organisation to a unique and comprehensive training programme on solar PV grid-connected power plants. The training programme is set up jointly by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
 
The first and second batches successfully underwent training in September and October 2011. There was unprecedented participation with nearly 100 participants from various organisations across India like ISRO, REIL, DESI Power, Four C Tron, ORB Energy, Ernst & Young, Inspira Infrastructure, Jain University, TUV, Steag Energy Services, Rashmi Industries, Converteam India, Avni Energy Solutions, Solaura Energy Services, Topsun Energy, Phototronic, ABB Global Industries and Services Limited, Cape Electric Corporation, Nextech Electronics, OBO Bettermann, etc.
 
Objective
Utility scale grid-connected solar power generation is an emerging concept in the country. Experienced manpower is not yet available to design, construct, manage and maintain grid-connected power plants in India. The objective of this training programme is to build manpower capability at tactical and operational level for grid-connected solar power generation through a combination of class-room training and visit to one of the operational solar PV power plants in India.
 
A certificate will be issued to the trainees upon successful completion of the programme on solar power plants.
 
Overview
The 6 days comprehensive training programme aims to cover the fundamental aspects of grid-connected solar power generation using solar photovoltaic (PV). This includes  -
-          4 days of classroom coaching
-          1 day onsite visit to KPCL Solar PV power plant, end users facility
-          1 day onsite visit to Solar PV module manufacturing facility

New entrants in solar PV, power developers, banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, EPC service providers, solar PV manufacturers, representatives from Govt. organizations, utility companies, regulatory bodies, ESCOMs, DISCOMs, college students, representatives from public sector and private sector, IT firms and investors in power sector.

Highlights of Previous Batches
 
-          Two batches of participants of the training programme on solar PV grid-connected power plants jointly conducted by KPCL and MNRE, with Arbutus Consultants as the programme consultant, successfully underwent 6 days of classroom and onsite training in September and October 2011 at Bangalore.
 
-          The classroom sessions were conducted by leading industry and inhouse experts from organisations like KPCL, KREDL, Arbutus Consultants Pvt Ltd, Optimal Power Solutions, Emmvee Solar, Agneya Carbon Ventures, Conergy, TUV, , Climate SD Services, SGI House and TUV. The participants benefited from the expertise and experience of leaders and pioneers in the industry like and Mr. SRC Sathyanarayan. The participants benefited from the expertise and experience of leaders and pioneers in the industry like Dr. Bharat Bhargava, Dr. K. S. Srinivas, Dr. P. Jayakumar, Mr. DC Krishnamurthy, Mr. Ashok Prakash, Mr. SRC Sathyanarayan, Mr. K.P. Raghunath, Mr. K. Revankar, Mr. Subban, Mr. Srinath etc.
 
-          Participants had extensive one-day visits to the 3 MW KPCL solar PV power plant where they learnt the intricacies of operation and maintenance of a solar PV power plant. Officials from KPCL and Arbutus explained technical and practical aspects of the plant.
 
-          The PV power plant visit was followed by a one day visit to the BHEL (1st Batch) and Emmvee (2nd Batch) solar PV module manufacturing plants where participants were taken through aspects of solar cell and solar module manufacturing.
 
-          The sessions were highly interactive and there was tremendous interest from participants. The programme was also a great networking platform for participants, faculty and organisers. Participants were highly appreciative of the course structure, faculty, course content, professional execution, infrastructure and logistics arrangements. Participants thanked KPCL, MNRE and Arbutus for the excellent training programme. Comprehensive feedback was given by participants and we hope to integrate the same into future training programmes.
