I have a chance to help the Santa Clara University team competing in the Solar Decathlon.
Today I met with the solar thermal team and learned roughly what their system looks like.
Today one little detail came up that perhaps one or more of you can give an opinion on.
Which kind of valve has the least resistance to water flow - ball or gate?

Full port ball valve - BTW, only a ball valve can be used for flow
restriction. t

Are non "full port" ball valves on the shelves for sale?
Is the restriction issue becasue gate valves will erode and then not turn off all the way?
Do gate valves lose thier ability to sut off completelym in any eventm over time?
