XFree No screens available error

well i just installed the Xfree that comes with 2.6, my card is a cirrus
logic gd5424, and my XF86Config is well configured (i have linux
experience). startx -- -bpp 8 works well, 1024*768 works well, mouse
works well etc... the problem is that wenn i start with -bpp 16 i get
the error no screens available. I made sure the right Xserver was called
: XF86_SVGA. Has anybody got a clue ?
