ATI XPERT 2000 & XFree86

My Matrox G200 died last monday and I sent a list of 'approved'
video cards from the XFree86 site. Unfortunately, purchasing ignored
the list and purchased an ATI XPERT 2000 instead, which appears to
have the dreaded 'text corruption problem':

The above-mentioned URL shows a patch to XFree86 3.3.6 which
supposedly fixes the problem. Is this the correct path to follow
for NetBSD 1.4.2/XFree86 3.3.6?
