txcsum seems not working with my 3com 3c905 TX

the tx checksum offloading is not enabled y default at boot and :
ifconfig xl0 txcsum
give me this message:

hayes# ifconfig xl0 txcsum
ifconfig: txcsum: Invalid argument


nota: the rxcsum and -rxcsum flags are working, and -txcsum has no
error messages


any ideas?
