I am unable to help Roger Lerner with information about his grandfather Shimon Roizen but I am interested in connections between Lerner families living nearby, in Bessarabia or the Ukraine. My Grandfather Moishe Lerner was from Kalis (Kalyus), now under water and is somehow related to another Lerner family believed to have moved from Bricheni to Sokiryani with names including Abba, Chana, Dobrish, Menachem, Michael, but the Lerner families have a different yDNA so appear to be related by marriage between Lerner and Lerner. My guess is that Dobrish Lerner married my great grandfather Yaakov of Kalis (Lerner or Halevi). My mother was also called Dobrish Lerner. Does this ring any bells?
