i literally spent 30 minutes reading TW's article and some of this thread and I actually know for a fact I added 5 strokes to my game. I just usually swing and now i am going to be thinking of 15 other things about where the sole is where the face is what angle my privates are facing and whether gwg should switch to a fade and if rybo is a good player. I will likely be in the market for lessons tomorrow. anyone do 75 an hour or less?
Just in an effort to get back on subject about adjustable drivers, I'll put my impression of the technology out there. For the record, I have the following drivers that I have purchased in an effort to research this tech trend:
9* R11 non-tour - FCT - Std Loft, ASP "O"
Callaway Razr-fit 11.5* - Adapter set to "O"
Titleist 910D3 9.5 - Adapter set to A1
Cobra S2 10.5 - Adapter set to "O"
I also have R11 FWs (T3-14 & 4-17 ASP at "O" on both, and sometimes adjust them lower on longer courses for a little extra reach.)
Needless to say, I like an open clubface. I like this because I tend to brush the ground when hitting my driver and the trailing sole edge of a closed face driver tends to contact the ground more than I like. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON! I DO NOT depend on FA to help with my accuracy and I DO NOT want anyone to attempt to convince me that I should. I have only minimal accuracy issues and when I do it is always a result of a bad swing or fatigue.
The two preferred drivers are the 910 and the Razr-fit, but since I tend to collect clubs, I use them all. I have tried all of these drivers at their various higher and lower loft settings and they all hit higher and lower in the respective settings. All of the adapters seem to work just as they claim (some better than others) but I like the TM adjustability the best since the FA and Loft are independent of each other. The technology works as far as loft is concerned. Prior to this tech coming out, the only option was to bend the shaft at the hosel to get these adjustments (as Tom and others have mentioned before).
If it seems odd that I have drivers with lofts ranging form 9* to 11.5*, I will explain. I play a LOT of different golf courses because I travel. They may range anywhere from 5600 yds to 7200 yds. Some are super tight and others are wide open. I choose the higher lofted clubs when I need tighter accuracy. Yeah, I could raise the 910 higher, but I don't like the look when I do. The new '13 drivers with more loft adjustments could definitely allow me to cut back on my number of clubs. The only one I have demoed is the Amp Cell (at the New England Golf Show) and results were in line with what I get now and the setup seemed good throughout the entire range of loft adjustment. Hope to try the R1 soon, but I like the asthetics of the Amp Cell better.
Just wanted to toss out my personal experience with these clubs for all to digest. I personally think the technology has great benefit to golfers as long as they understand how it works and know enough about the game and their swing to adjust it correctly. Do I think everyone should jump on the bandwagon? Not at all. If your glued driver works for you then stay with it. I have many that I hit just as well as the adjustable ones and play them from time to time. But for my game, the adjustable drivers serve a real purpose.

Don't dwell on it man. Just relish in the fact that you now know EXACTLY why the ball doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

Damn son, I tried to meet face to face so you can hit the R1 and compare it to whatever the G25 gives you. Maybe play some golf and discuss all of this. I'm perfectly fine with showing you my swing. Inviting me to a course and range that is under renovation was simply ridiculous. Apparently you'd rather hide behind your keyboard. So fine stay hidden.
When you have something to add about the report and the effects adjustable hosels have on changing loft then add it.
If you'd like to continue this diatribe then message me, it has no business in this thread. At this point I'm done with anything not related to the topic.

Now there's a fine comment. He really did not invite you to play Gateway G&CC. He invited you to Gateway, which is in itself a gated community.
But that also really was not how your comment was intended. Was it?????
Mr. Wishon,
I have to say I am somewhat embarrassed by the arguments you are getting. As far as I know, you are the only person on this forum that has built clubs for a US Open winner (Payne Stewart). Yet all these people think they know more about clubfitting and design than you do. I appreciate all that you bring to this forum. I have a copy of The Search for the Perfect Golf Club. I use old sleeves (for balls) as the book markers. If I send it to you, would you be willing to autograph it for me?

I'm pretty sure the companies he says are lying about their drivers having adjustable loft have also built clubs for major championship winners.
Yeah, Tom said they are lying..... I hope everyone can see you for the dick you really are. Keep chasing them away...the pseudo internet expert (aka moron) strikes again.
Quite odd? Maybe fourmyle can join that thread and tell everyone they are lying...since 3 people in that thread alone share the same experience....maybe they are just old, retired, in over their head, kneebiting, fanboys of Tom...or maybe, just maybe...they are drastically open.
So when I claim that I visually square up the clubface before swinging, the company line is "That's crazy, nobody can accurately see when the clubface is square that's why you've got to put the sole on the ground and let the club aim itself".
But now some other guy says "Man, this club looks way open to me" and you guys jump on it as incontrovertable evidence that the clubface is open. After all THAT guy's eye is perfectly calibrated because it agrees with your second-hand talking points.
Classic.
Actually, he measured with pics, along with two others in that thread stated they saw the same thing....but we're all lying. Your eye, and "learning on the fly measurements", prove everyone else wrong. Its amazing the amount of denial you have...you are the Baghdad Bob of Golfwrx.....Tom is lying, I am lying, that other guy is making it up along with the 2 others in the same thread....nothing to see here...Baghdad Bob has spoken.
It seems very strange to me that even though there has been extensive discussion and clear explanations as to why Tom disagrees with the OEMs claims and why their measurements differ, there continues to be this idiotic discussion about either of them lying. No one is lying. They define the word Loft differently and measure it differently. Yeah, Tom's definition and method of measure was mainstream for many years and some obviously still use it. However, most OEMs are doing things differently now. It's as simple as that. It doesn't matter who you agree with, the tech works, end of story. If you don't understand how, just check out any clubmaking manual that covers bending a shaft to increase or decrease loft. That's what the adapters are doing. It's not rocket science.
