The story of how the classic album "Paranoid" was made, with stories from band members to those who were influenced by its content, form and vitality. Paranoid is the second studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath. Released in September 1970, it was the band's only LP to top the UK Albums Chart until the release of 13 in 2013. Paranoid contains several of the band's signature songs, including "Iron Man", "War Pigs" and the title track, which was the band's only Top 20 hit, reaching number 4 in the UK charts. It is often regarded as one of the most quintessential and influential albums in heavy metal history.

One of the greatest albums of all time! Economical and wildly talented, Black Sabbath were one of the most important bands between the transition of classic rock and the coming metal scene. I can't even begin to fathom the amount of times I've listened to this record. This was a solid documentary about the making of an iconic album.

Widely considered to be among the best, and first, heavy metal albums, Black Sabbath's Paranoid has long been one of the most important works in rock history. This documentary takes a look at the writing and recording of that classic platter and features extensive interviews with all of the band members as well as archival footage.

Like many Black Sabbath albums after their initial burst of creativity in the early Seventies, recording Sabotage was an absolute nightmare. They kept getting pulled out of the studio to testify against their former management team in a nasty lawsuit. "It was so distracting," Iommi writes in Iron Man. "It felt like we were being sabotaged all the way along the line." If that wasn't bad enough, a technician aligned the master tape the wrong way, and midway through they had to start all over. Once again, they rose above the chaos to create a stellar disc. "Symptom of the Universe" basically invented progressive metal, and the gentle "Supertzar" took the group in an entirely different direction. Some hardcore fans think that Sabotage is the last truly classic LP from the Ozzy era.

This classic albums show really seems to know their stuff. From getting pretty much everyone you'd want to hear from, to editing the interviews in a neat way to choosing quite the great albums. The last point might be a duh thing, but tastes are different and I reckon not everyone will like every album that is chosen. Still I would like to believe they at least appreciate what this show is doing.

The songs that are played and the way they are explained is also really good. Especially because you can't plan certain things - when genius strikes .. it strikes! And when a certain group of people come together and are creative ... you can bet that something worthwhile comes out of this. Now if you are a cynic you may question certain connections and if they were meant that way ... but everything said here seems genuine! And to think that they were considered "bad apples" ... it's kind of crazy ...
