Hello SoilSensor.com group members!
First of all, happy holidays to everyone and I hope that you
have a happy and safe New Years!
There have been two updates to SoilSensor.com this month:
- A recent news article of
interest from the USGS has been posted to the front page of soilsensor.com. Most
everyone is aware of the link between CO2 and soil temperature, with soils
releasing more CO2 into the atmosphere as they are warmed. A new USGS
report outlines the increasing activity of microbes in former areas of
frozen permafrost that have melted, contributing to an increase in CO2
offgasing in northern regions of the United States.
- A new research article has been
posted in the articles
section of the website. Titled “Calculating Pore Water Electrical Conductivity
From the Dielectric Permittivities of Soil” and
located at the bottom of the page, it outlines measuring the electrical
permittivity and conductivity of bulk soil to determine pore water
content.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to
post on the Soilsensor.com
