Dear colleagues,

This is an invitation to contribute to the 23rd World Congress of Soil Science (WCSS), which will be held in Nanjing, China, from June 7-12, 2026.

The call for abstracts is now open. Please note these important dates:

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, November 7, 2025

  • Notification of Acceptance: Saturday, February 7, 2026

For more information and to submit your work, please visit the official congress website: https://www.23wcss.org.cn/

Special Focus for the Digital Soil Mapping Community:

The upcoming congress will feature a strong focus on Digital Soil Mapping (DSM), with several dedicated sessions that offer excellent platforms to share our community's latest research. I encourage you to consider submitting your work to one of these sessions:

  • Digital Soil Mapping and Assessment: Advances, Applications, and Future Directions

    • This session will focus on the incorporation of knowledge into DSM, the evolution of AI in soil science, and the translation of maps into practical applications through Digital Soil Assessment (DSA).

  • Operational Digital Soil Mapping: fitness for use of DSM products: pitfalls to avoid and way forward

    • This session will critically examine the practical application and "fitness for use" of DSM products, focusing on product evaluation, quality assessment, common pitfalls, and the effective communication of uncertainty to end-users.

  • Advances in Remote Sensing for Soil Property Mapping

    • This session explores the latest breakthroughs in using remote and proximal sensing technologies for predictive soil mapping.

  • Democratizing Digital Soil Mapping: Innovative Technologies for Global Soil Services and Solutions

    • This session focuses on making DSM technologies accessible worldwide through open-source tools, cloud computing, and AI.

  • Leveraging Site and Spatial data for Soil monitoring

    • This session explores strategies to integrate site-specific data with spatial analytics for transformative soil monitoring solutions.

I look forward to seeing a strong representation of our work in Nanjing and to the insightful discussions these sessions will generate.

Best regards,
