New Documentary Raises Awareness of Need to Transform Agriculture - Two Showings in Boston Area - Panel Discussions Follow - 350 Mass, 350 Mass of Greater Lowell, and Sierra Club of Massachusetts as Co-hosts

April 10, 2024, Boston, MA — Soil4Climate, Inc., an educational nonprofit advocating for regenerative agriculture as a climate solution, today announced it is regional coordinator for Earth Day weekend screenings in Lowell and Boston, Mass., of the award-winning environmental documentary, Common Ground, a sequel to the Netflix film, Kiss The Ground. Both movies discuss the promise of regenerative agriculture to improve the health of soil and people, while addressing climate change through farming practices such as no-till, cover cropping, and well-managed grazing.

“Soil4Climate is pleased to join with 350 Mass350 Mass Lowell, and The Sierra Club of Massachusetts in co-hosting Common Ground,” said Seth Itzkan, co-founder of Soil4Climate. “Regenerative agriculture, including Holistic Planned Grazing, is essential for restoring degraded soil, producing healthful food, and sequestering carbon to help reverse global warming. I encourage everyone to see this important film.”

Alan Palm, Executive Director of Better Future Project: 350 Mass, said, "350 Mass is delighted to be a co-host of the Boston screening of Common Ground. This film shines light on both the pitfalls of industrial agriculture as well as the promise of a new type of land stewardship, called regenerative agriculture, to restore soil, heal people, and mitigate climate change.”

Vick Mohanka, Director of Massachusetts Sierra Club, said, "The Sierra Club Massachusetts Chapter is happy to join Soil4Climate and other organizations in co-hosting the special Earth Day screening of this environmental documentary. By moving away from industrial farming, overuse of chemicals, and extractive labor practices, we can not only grow healthier food, but also make a food system that works for people, not just business interests."

Neil Dale, Outreach Director with 350 Mass of Lowell, said, "At 350 Mass Lowell, we want to regrow the connection between urban and suburban populations, and the agricultural base of our country. This movie speaks powerfully to anyone who cares about the climate and their food.”

Soil4Climate is proud to stand with our environmental and climate colleagues in recognizing fossil fuel-based extractive agriculture must end. Assuring a livable future for humanity requires a shift to nature-friendly regenerative agricultural practices. This extraordinarily hopeful movie, Common Ground, takes a gigantic step in that direction.

The screenings of Common Ground will take place at 7 PM on Sunday, April 21st, at the Luna Theater in Lowell, Massachusetts, and at 7 PM on Monday, April 22nd, Earth Day, at the AMC Boston Common 19 Theater in Boston. A panel discussion will follow each screening.

These screenings are part of an arrangement with AMC Theaters to honor Earth Day by showing the film at 75+ theaters around the country.
