Hi All,
It was a pleasure to speak on the promise of grassland restoration to reverse global warming at the Impact Hub Boston City Awake lecture series two nights ago in downtown Boston.
As usual, it was good to see so many people from diverse backgrounds who, upon investigation, immediately understand how essential this message is for our climate future and quickly becoming part of a new "front" in the climate movement.
Below is a most inspiring quote from the host and director of Impact Hub Boston, Geoff Mamlet.
"Impact Hub
Boston was delighted to host Seth Itzkan and Ridge Shinn last night
(Monday, Dec 8, 2014) to speak on Grassland Restoration and Carbon
Sequestration. Their talk was part of the City Awake series of events
across the Boston region that shines a spotlight on individuals and
organizations doing extraordinary things to make the world a better
place. We were most impressed with the promise of restorative grazing to
build soil and sequester carbon while producing healthy food, improving the livelihoods of small farmers in some of the poorest communities in the world, and reversing
or preventing desertification. We believe grassland restoration of this
type can be an essential part of a healthy climate future, and that
consumer preference for 100% grassfed meat, particularly in large urban
centers like Boston, is an essential component of this transition." (bold added)

Folks who would like to know more about the presentations given by myself and Ridge Shill can see similar presentations at the links below.
There will be upcoming conferences and meetings on these themes early in 2015 that all should put on their calendars now. The first will be Carbon Farming for Food, Health, Profit and Planet at Bristol Community College on Feb 20th. See the Biodiversity for a Livable Climate 2015 Conference page for more info.
