Change the Focus from Polluting Less to Restoring More - Reply to the World Resources Institute (WRI) Regarding Plant-based “Milk”

“Hi World Resources Institute, it’s good that you’re looking at this issue, but it’s unfortunate that you continue to limit the investigation to deleterious practices. So, you are simply comparing different degrees of damage. How about if, instead, we focus on repair - healing? Once we move to that criterion, all the industrially produced annual commodity options (soy, pea, almond) are off the table and the only option left is regeneratively grazed (real) milk from ruminants (mostly cows). The data on the matter is fully in now and continuing to ignore it is going to raise questions of impartiality. Moving forward, kindly be transparent about this matter. Linked is the Soil4Climate Inc. compendium on the soil and climate benefits of well-managed livestock. Thank you.

From WRI

“🥛When it comes to environmental impact, not all milks are equal. Look at this chart, for example: Data shows cow’s milk produces roughly 3 times more emissions than plant-based options.

🌎The good news is that we don't need to choose between protein and the planet. Options like pea milk and soy milk provide a protein-rich alternative while reducing our impact.
