I am pleased to announce that I will be presenting a talk on Software Craftsmanship @ Øredev. I will be talking a little about the many things we're doing at Obtiva including our apprenticeship program, the journeyman swaps, and our culture. I will also be talking extensively about practice, apprenticeship, and mentoring.

I know all of the talks will be recorded, but I do not know how they will be made available to the general public.

If you're planning to attend Øredev and would like to meet up, shoot me an e-mail. I'm going alone, so I would certainly enjoy the company.

For those of you who do not know me I am a Journeyman (Senior Consultant) at Obtiva. I've been with the company since the very beginning. So, I have had the privilege of working with many excellent developers, many of whom you know from the list.

As a final note. I once arm wrestled with Dave Hoover at a Jazz club in downtown Toronto. It was a really bad idea.

For the record, I have an extremely vague memory of arm wrestling
"someone" that night in Toronto. Apparently it was Tyler. Sadly, I
don't remember the outcome. Although I do remember trying to climb a
tree on the way back to the hotel.

I just wanted to give my side of the story. In case there were any questions.

Best,
--Dave

ps: We're considering changing Obtiva to Øbtiva. You like?

I will be attending Øredev and it would be nice to meet up. A lot of the speakers last year gathered in the Bishop's Arms pub near the hotels where the speakers stayed and I'm guessing this will be the case this year as well. I'll contact you off list when I know more.

The recordings of the talks will be made available to the public through the web site.
