Having an Accessibility oriented site would depend on primarily the requirements and the nature of product under development. If the product is to be used by masses let’s say target audience are students and product management sees business reason to have accessibility integrated into their system then requirements for the same should be published for the developers. It is best advisable to integrate Accessibility related norms in the code from the very initial stage of development as having the same implemented in mature product could be a much costly affair. The responsibility of web Accessibility is also in the hands of QA folks as testing this facet of an application requires a methodical knowledge about Accessibility and it’s standards like section 508 , WCAG etc. We at QA InfoTech has devised a unique formula and hired visually impaired resources and trained them to be as Software testing engineers. As these folks represents the target end users and hence are in a position to provide the realistic feedback & issues which end users could face while browsing the web Applications using any screen-reading tools. The extensive QA services in this regards would help developers in building an effective accessibility oriented system.
Hence, to summarize the web accessibility is not only a sole responsibility of developers. The product/project management and Development/QA teams – all are equally responsible.
