Usability can be defined as ease with which a user can learn to operate the software and interpret its results.

Following points need to be considered while measuring usability of a software:

- It measures the effectiveness and the efficiency in context of use.
- To measure usability we need a model that would cover understandability, learnability, operability, attractiveness, and usability of the system.
- These factors cannot be measured but perceived by effectiveness, user satisfaction and performance evaluation.
- Decision complexity or set of alternatives involved from which user can choose and memory overload involved.
- The design of the software, the web pages and their linking with each other. It covers all aspects like buttons, text etc.
