Save the Date: World Digital Preservation Day 2026 | 5 November

[Angela Puggioni]

Hello everyone,

World Digital Preservation Day 2026 is coming up on 5 November, so it’s time to save the date and start planning how you’ll mark the day!

On Thursday 5 November 2026, the global digital preservation community will come together for World Digital Preservation Day (WDPD), our annual opportunity to celebrate digital preservation, share what we do, and raise awareness of why it matters.

This year’s theme is: Save our Stories (SOS): Our Digital Heritage in Danger

Our digital heritage tells the stories of our communities, organizations and societies, through records, research, cultural collections, memories and much more. But without action, these stories can be lost through neglect, technological change, or deliberate destruction in times of conflict and crisis.

This WDPD, we want to show the world why protecting our digital heritage matters and encourage action before those stories are lost.

Get involved by hosting an event, sharing a blog or social media post (make sure to use#WDPD2026), showcasing your work or contributing a creative response that helps demonstrate why preserving our digital stories matters.

For now, save the date and start thinking about the stories you want to help save.

We’ll be sharing much more over the coming months, so watch this space!

Best wishes,

The DPC Team
