Today the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is launching a new three-part Technology Watch Guidance Note series exploring cyber security and resilience for digital preservation.
TheĀ series is being introduced during today's #DPClinic session, Zero Trust Thinking: Doing Resilient Digital Preservation in a World of Cyber Risk, and examines the growing cyber security challenges facing organizations responsible for preserving digital content.
The first publication, Part 1: Understand Cyber Threats, is now available to DPC Members as part of a member preview period. The full series will be released publicly on 31 August 2026.
In the meantime, you can read more about the series, its authors, and the topics it will explore:
The Technology Watch publication series is just one of the ways the DPC supports the digital preservation community. An international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, the DPC helps its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a sustainable future for our digital assets.

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has today releasedĀ a member preview of Cyber Security and Resilience for Digital Preservation – Part 2: Engage Stakeholders,Ā the second publication in its three-part Technology Watch Guidance Note series.
Building on the foundations laid in the DPC's first Guidance Note on cyber security, Understand Cyber Threats, this new publication explores how digital preservation practitioners can work effectively with colleagues across their organizations to strengthen cyber resilience.
Written by Heather Lowrie, Director of Resilionix, and Garth Stewart, Head of Good Practice at the DPC, the publication demonstrates how digital preservation can complement wider cyber security programmes while offering practical approaches to engaging stakeholders and building organizational support. The third and final Guidance Note in the series will be published on 30 July 2026, with the complete series released publicly on 31 August 2026.
