Announcing the Release of Good Practices for Acquiring Email Archives

Greetings Colleagues,

The Email Archiving and Preservation Interest Group is excited to announce a new resource for archivists and anyone else looking to preserve email! Good Practices for Acquiring Email explores the initial stages of acquiring and transferring email to a collecting or host repository, particularly in records management and special collections contexts. This documentation was drafted by an independent group of archivists and records managers, who meet as a discussion group on email archiving and preservation. Taking the care to acquire collections in a thoughtful manner is critical for facilitating future activities of processing, preserving, and providing access - and this guide aims to help you think through decisions, communications, and tools as you embark upon your email acquisitions project.
