Hi SPN listserv,

We had a great Metadata Interest Group meeting last Thursday with four attendees in discussion with me Dianne (in our roles as outgoing Metadata Working Group Co-Coordinators) and Chelle (in their role as SPN Program Manager). Thank you to all who attended!

In our next meetings, we're going to shift discussion away from past Metadata WG projects, and more toward learning what potential future members are interested in working on. Maybe you have a specific project in mind that diverges from past MWG projects, or you're specifically interested in the Software Metadata Recommended Format Guide, or you are interested in generally learning more about how metadata can support software collections in a cultural heritage context. We'd love to hear it, and support the interests of potential future group members and coordinators before we depart the group in July!

This in mind, here are three questions to consider that could help prep for our next three calls:

  1. What interests you about metadata in a software preservation context?
  2. What types of work would you like to see the SPN Metadata WG produce?
  3. Are you interested in being a MWG member?
  4. Are you interested in being a MWG co-coordinator?

No specific need to prep ahead of these calls, but as we work toward transitioning the group to new leadership and membership, we'll use these questions to guide our upcoming conversations.

If you'd like to join any of the next three calls, an .ics file is attached to this email with all information to join. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at clair...@yale.edu and/or Dianne at dd...@cornell.edu.

All best,

Claire and Dianne
