Functional programming

Hello Dr. Ousterhout,

First, let me thank you for your APOSD book. It is excellent and I’m on my second reading.

In the Software Trends chapter I noticed there’s no mention of functional programming, which I believe has been trending for some years.

It would be great (in a future edition) to read about your thoughts on functional programming and how your philosophy integrates with it.
