CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

I C S E   2 0 1 4
36th International Conference on Software Engineering

June 1-7, 2014, Hyderabad, India

http://2014.icse-conferences.org/
=====================================================================

The International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE) is the premier software engineering conference, providing a forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, experiences and concerns in the field of software engineering.

The 36th International Conference on Software Engineering, ICSE 2014, will be held in Hyderabad, India. India is home to some of the largest software companies in the world, and Hyderabad is one of the main centers for software development in India.

We encourage you to contribute to and help shape ICSE 2014 through submissions to one or more of our many vehicles for professional engagement: technical research papers, practice and experience papers, education papers, new ideas and emerging results papers, tutorials, workshops, the doctoral symposium, and posters and demonstrations.

=====================================================================
TECHNICAL RESEARCH TRACK

For the technical research track, we invite high quality submissions of papers describing original and unpublished results of conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental, or theoretical work in all areas of software engineering. Successful submissions may range from novel technical results to scientific evaluations of existing problems or research results. Submissions describing groundbreaking approaches to emerging problems will be considered based on timeliness and potential impact.

Technical research track papers are limited to 10 pages for the main text, inclusive of figures, tables, appendices, etc. References may be included on up to two additional pages.

Papers must be submitted electronically through the ICSE 2014 web site by *Sep 13, 2013*. All submissions will be evaluated on the basis of originality, contribution, soundness, evaluation, quality of presentation and appropriate comparison to related work.

Accepted papers in all tracks may be withheld from publication unless at least one co-author registers for the event. Accepted papers in all tracks will be required to use the originally submitted author list in the official publication. Accepted papers will be published in the ICSE 2014 electronic conference proceedings and in the digital libraries of ACM and the IEEE Computer Society.

=====================================================================
MENTORING PROGRAM

The ICSE 2014 mentoring program provides prospective submitters to the research track the opportunity to obtain advice on the structure and content of a prospective submission. Each paper submitted for mentoring (i.e. a polished and mostly-complete manuscript in the ICSE 2014 conference format) will be read thoroughly by one mentor. Mentors will be members of a prior ICSE research track program selection committee or experienced past authors of ICSE technical papers. Mentors will spend considerable time reviewing a submission, and will provide high-level feedback on its structure and content.

This program is available to prospective submitters who have not yet published a full-length research track article at ICSE, ESEC/FSE, ISSTA, ASE or ESEM. The resources of the mentoring program are limited, and access to a mentor is not guaranteed. For papers meeting the eligibility criteria, requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis while mentors remain available, but until *June 15, 2013* at the latest.

Please see http://2014.icse-conferences.org/mentoring for detailed eligibility and submission information on the mentoring program.

=====================================================================
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING IN PRACTICE TRACK

The Software Engineering in Practice (SEIP) track provides a dedicated forum for practitioners to share ideas, advice, and solutions to real software development problems. To that end, SEIP seeks papers that highlight industrial challenges, breakthroughs, and case studies. SEIP especially seeks papers with high take-away value to help practitioners improve their own software engineering processes, techniques, and results. Also valuable are papers that help academics identify important new areas of research.

Experience reports and case studies submitted to the SEIP track should provide clear take-away value by describing the context of a problem of practical importance; discussing why the solution of the problem is innovative, effective, or efficient; providing a concise explanation of the approach, techniques, and methodologies employed; and explaining the best practices that emerged, tools developed, and/or software processes involved. Furthermore, papers should describe broader applicability; overall assessment of benefits, risks and mitigations, and other lessons learned.

SEIP papers must be submitted electronically through the ICSE 2014 web site. Submissions must not have been previously published or concurrently submitted elsewhere. Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of practicality to industry, originality, significance of contribution, applicability, quality of presentation, and discussion to related work.

=====================================================================
FURTHER SUBMISSION CATEGORIES

Besides technical research papers and software engineering in practice papers, ICSE 2014 will also accept paper submissions in the following categories:
  - Software engineering education papers
  - New ideas and emerging results papers

We also invite
  - proposals for workshops and tutorials
  - submissions to the doctoral symposium
  - formal demonstrations
  - posters
  - submissions to the ACM Student Research Competition
