In this tutorial you will learn how to install broadcom wifi drivers on Debian 11. If you recently have installed Debian 11 and were not able to install wifi drivers during the installation, you can skip setting up them and do it after installing the system.

The difference is that when you install debian without internet access, debian will install only the base system, which means you won't have a desktop GUI and you will have to setup everything by yourself as base system basically means only a terminal that you can use to install a desktop environment and other stuff. However, this is totally up to you, internet access will save some of your time, but in the other hand there's nothing wrong why to not do this manually by using the base system.Step 1 - Open sources.listTo be able to install wifi drivers, first you need to make the necessary changes by adding the source from where wifi drivers will be downloaded on the sources file.

Step 3 - Install kernel headersbroadcom-sta-dkms is the kernel module support for the wireless lan driver. Hello everyone! I have successfully made a dual booting hackintosh out of my inspiron 1525. The internet works on the windows side and when I try to install the drivers on OSX side it does not work. Does anyone else know what the problem is?

If reinstalling Leopard, I suggest iPC 10.5.6 PPF5. It will install 10.5.6, which boasts some big upgrades from the much older 10.5.2. You can then of course follow your various Upgrade guides to upgrade up to 10.5.8. Regardless, try following this guide on getting your Audio working and this link to the broadcom script. Intructions for the script are included in the download. After installing, reboot with -f and report back how it goes. For more drivers/kexts, check out the Master Drivers Guide

Brendon- Then I better stop giving you the wrong information for my own enjoyment ;-). JK of course. I am currently putting together a new post about drivers that you can reference when you are running on 10.5.6. it should be up shortly (Next 10-15 minutes)

Download the drivers and then open terminal. Type sudo su and enter your password and hit Enter. Then drag bcm43xx_enabler.sh into terminal and hit Enter again. Then just follow the prompts and you should be finished.

Kalyway was very hit and miss with drivers. It would really be beneficial to use a more recent version such as iPC. Just leave it downloading over night and it will be done real soon. Which torrent client are you using to download it.

WhY.SoOo.Serious- The picture includes everything you need to select when installing. That does NOT include all the drivers you need for your computer to get everything working (ethernet, audio, etc.)The various drivers for these can be found in postings on this website.
For audio- -perfect-audio-with-latest-applehda/
For ethernet- -ethernet-for-all/
For SD Card Reader- -card-reader-working-on-hackbooks/
For Media Keys- -hackbook-media-keys-working/
Any other drivers you might need are scattered around somewhere on this site so just search for the device you are trying to fix in the search bar and the top of this page.

WhY.SoOo.Serious- You can find a list of everything you need to select when installing iPC 10.5.6 over at -content/uploads/2009/03/ipcppf5packagelist.png
About sizing your partition- If you think OS X is going to become your primary OS then you should probably make it about 100gb. If it isnt then I would make it to about 40gb. You can both shrink your C Drive and expand your D drive in Gparted without any data loss so be sure to use that.
And for your final question about installing the Video driver for GMA X3100- DO NOT install the driver when installing OS X because this will only lead to issues in the future. Do not select any video drivers when installing (just select whats selected in the list found at the link I gave you).

Geoff- Although that was very thoughtful of you to upload a drivers pack, I am going to have to advise people not to use the audio kexts that you included because they are extremely outdated, but to rather use the newer AppleHDA.kext package which packs loads of new features including internal mic and all that good stuff.

@cody, for some reason i found that the broadcom script was linked to my audio driver, and the aiport card would only be recognized if i had installed the HD audio codec. Try running the script, then dragging the audio codec into the patcher, then repairing permissions and rebooting with -v -f.

Hey, im really new to all of this, I recently installed Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 Kalyway, installed the 10.5.3 update and kernel. Up until that point everything was going great and working amazingly. When I apply the broadcom script and reboot airport still will not show up. Ive tried about 15 times now re-installed Leopard about 5 times and still connot figure it out. I have the exact same computer as yours. Some help would be greatly appretiated.

Plus all the installers and tools packaged together with instructions. All the drivers worked fine on my inspiron 1525 running any update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.6 on the vanilla kernel. I hope this helps.

Well decided not to take the hard route so installed the 1490 Mini wireless card, Guess what? Wireless and Bluetooth work right out of first installation no drivers needed. Webcam works without drivers too. CUrrently in 10.5.4 dont know if i do the 10.5.5 will leave me in that turn off system loop.

I have never used iPC because I have upgraded from kalyway 10.5.2 to 10.5.6 so I cannot tell you which setting to choose to wake it up but i would guess trying one installation with graphics drivers and then possible another by experimenting with other options.

Do not select any video drivers because the grpahics card will be supported automatically. If you are still trying to get it working then wait for thirty minutes and see what happens. Another option would be for you to download and try out the new ipc 10.5.6 install dvd and then not have to worry about updating anything

MonrealI am having trouble configuring my wireless, i ran the Broadcom-Script a couple of times, but after reboots the device is not recognised.. What am i doing wrong? How can i know if the broadcom-script is the right one for my laptop?

I tried installing without customisation and I tried installing with the gmx3100 video drivers. I also tried installing with vanillakernel.
When I install with the videodrivers I can get into the post-installer at step 3 BUT the touchpad/keyboard doesnt work (fact, I cant even see the mousepointer). Also connecting an external mouse doesnt work.

When installing, do not install any video/audio/network drivers as they will only complicate the boot process. For the bios, the default one should be fine. One thing you should select though is the cpus = 1 option as this is necessary for booting on the Inspiron 1525. Also, I have always had success with the Vanilla Kernel. Then afte you turn on your laptop, close the lid and then leave it alone for at least 15 minutes. DO NOT OPEN THE LID AS THIS WILL BE REGARDED AS AN ATTEMPT TO WAKE THE LAPTOP AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 15 MINUTES. After fifteen minutes have passed, open the laptop, move the mouse/trackpad and then you should be fine. Installing without any video drivers will still leave the video card QE/CI supported so you can use photobooth/ the new imovie etc. Also, I do not know what this screenfix thing is all about but it screams major no-no. That is most likely the cause of your problem. Please post back if you have anymore questions. You can also email me at tompic823 [@] aol.com

Are you certain that the computer has fallen asleep? Also, do not install any graphics drivers when isntalling, not even the intel x3100 one. And just to be positive, this is the first reboot after installing, right?

I have a 4965 AGN wifi card in my Inspiron 1525.
I realise that there are no stable drivers for it. What wifi cards are there available and compatible with this tutorial that would fit in my machine?

After running the broadcom script, everything seemed to install, I repaired permisions and rebooted as suggested, but still no Wifi (repeated this again just to verifity, same problem). THEN however I ran the Audio driver installation above, somehow this kicked the wifi into action aswell! Suddenly the airport icon appeared and it told me there where networks to connect to. So if your wifi installation does not seem to work, try installing the audio afterwards.

Hey Guys,
Im having an issue with Dellintosh. I was using it today as normal, everything was going fine and all of a sudden my wifi cut off. I look in the top right of the corner and it says my Airport card is turned off, i click on Turn Airport on and nothing happens. I rebooted and its the same story. I even tried running the broadcom script againt, but no luck. Is there something stupid I am doing here? Keep in mind I am a Mac newbie, but I am proficient with Linux and Windows so feel free to throw a techy solution at me.
