Another thing you can try is to use what Word refers to as a "1/4 em space" before the punctuation. The width of this special space is (as its name implies) one-quarter of the width of the letter "m" in whatever typeface you are using. Go ahead and open your image in Photoshop, then press the letter T on your keyboard to quickly access the Type tool, choose your font and font size in the Options bar at the top of the screen and add some text above your image.
