The universal language of music has united generations of lovers since the beginning of time. Falling in and out of love, grasping at unrequited love, mourning love lost and succumbing to deep love are central to the human experience. Love peels back emotions, incorporating complex feelings that come across powerfully in the common language of music. With endless love songs to describe matters of the heart, the top love songs according to music lovers of all ages connect the past with the present.

Frank Sinatra and daughter Nancy deliver this duet with unmatched melodies and the sort of calmness that love can sometimes bring. The almost country-esque wobble of the strumming guitar and drum patterns contrasted with a cinematic string section feel almost embarrassingly romantic, like young love.

This beautiful country ballad is so sad that its relatable to anyone who has lost love and gained a hole in their heart. An under-the-radar song, many discovered this lonely hit via popular 1993 rags-to-riches movie, The Beverly Hillbillies.

Burt Bacharach, one of the most influential songwriters and composers in modern music history delivers the timeless message of love for one another through the political and social realities of the 1960s making What The World Needs Now Is Love" a staple in community building and a reminder of humanity. Bacharach received three Academy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, six Grammy Awards, an Primetime Emmy Award and over 1,000 artists have recorded his songs.

One of the most versatile soul singers of all time, Sam Cooke, brings deep emotion to music through his ability to oscillate between disparate music genres and styles. "Bring It On Home To Me" is a call-and-response love song with Lou Rawls on backup vocals as Cooke longs for his lover to come back home.

Jill Scott is powerful, candid and curious in her writing and performance. In "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat)," Scott recounts the ways her partner loves her in the most descriptive and intricate details and settings. The song sounds and feels like love.

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

Hey! It looks like your suggestion is growing up fast and it's amazing! We are going to change its status to 'Good Suggestion' now and we hope it continues being supported by more and more users.
Thanks again for your suggestion. We really appreciate it

More information about how the Spotify Idea Exchange works can be found here.

Yesterday was the last straw for me. Smart Shuffle enabled itself again, twice. Enough already. I've cancelled my premium subscription and uninstalled Spotify and will be moving to Apple Music. Please let me know when you remove Smart Shuffle and will be happy to come back.

Smart shuffle is a terrible feature. Whoever pushed for it to be implemented on even-footing with the regular shuffle button should be fired. Just another example of how the Spotify app gets worse with every single iteration. Every update is more bloated with features no one wants. If you're going to implement garbage features to keep your managers happy, PLEASE AT LEAST GIVE US A TOGGLE TO OPT-OUT.

My regular shuffle no longer works. Pease get rid of smart shuffle! I love to listen to my liked songs on shuffle and DO NOT want random songs being thrown in. I have methods for exploring new music, but a "smart shuffle" is not one of them.

You've lost at least one paid subscriber because of Smart Shuffle. Yesterday was it for me, I am tired of my playlists being taken over by your AI generated **bleep**. I have never intentionally enabled smart shuffle, but it is constantly turning itself on and destroying my playlists. I will not give you another dime and would be happy to come back when you offer a way for paid premium users to permanently disable this feature. For now, Spotify is uninstalled (as your free version is unusable after the recent update) and I will be paying for High Res Apple Music. It's sad, because I was an early adopter and have honestly enjoyed Spotify for so many years, but what you have become is reprehensible and makes me quite sad when I think about the future availability of music in the world. So much great music being held hostage by tech companies that we've now gotten to the place where we can't even listen to what WE WANT TO LISTEN TO. Time to start investing in vinyl again.

The inability to turn this turn this feature off completely makes Spotify feel like un-paid Pandora Radio circa 2012. It gets turned on accidentally, it gets stuck on. If I want a radio station, I can go to a radio station. There are two reasons I pay for a Spotify Premium account: Ad-Free and On-Demand. Everything else is secondary and losing sight of either of those is driving me to shop around for an alternate music service.

Almost a year now, and this HORRIBLE feature that is smart-shuffle is still not gone. It frustrates me to no ends. Trying to chill and relax with my playlists and music and constantly having to battle this stupid thing. STOP PUSHING UNWANTED THINGS ON PAYING CUSTOMERS!

If I chose to pay to remove the adds and to be able to listen to songs in the order I choose, obviously it means that I don't appreciate random songs coming up on my playlist, no matter how well intentioned it is. I'm able to make my own choices, thanks, I don't need your AI to think and make decisions for me...

Apple: Note that on iPhones this is slightly better. When cycling through (no shuffle -> shuffle -> Smart Shuffle -> no shuffle), Spotify adds a delay while the smart shuffle loads, preventing you from going back to no shuffle too quickly.

She rolls her eyes in resentment at the three words that seemingly punctuate every piece of praise. She's got a tremendous voice "for her age," she's gorgeous "for her age," she's a spectacular performer "for her age." Truthfully, she's all those things no matter how many candles burn on her birthday cake.

First settling locally that same decade, then hightailing it to Chicago for an eight-year nightclub stint, White's return to Austin in the Nineties ushered in her most productive studio era: three LPs on the Antone's label, plus the Texas Soul Sisters collaboration on Dialtone. Defying retirement, she continues to perform weekly with her backing combo, the L-Men.

Lavelle White: Ray Charles was the most interesting. He was just a beautiful guy and he loved to talk. He really built me up, telling me, "Don't be afraid, just keep going. You'll make it one day." I'd say, "When?" I loved him.

B.B. King was another. He brought me on the road with him. The first place we went was Chicago. He taught me how to dress, he taught me how to walk onstage, he taught me how to be. That was so beautiful and I miss him tremendously. I've thought of recording a couple of his tunes.

LW: Well I am, but it's a hard thing because, growing older, men be looking at younger women. They're not looking at me. They don't want me because I'm older. Now, no matter how old I get, I won't stop lovin' men, but there's two things I don't do: I don't chase after men, I don't mess with my friends' men, and I don't mess with married men. I stay away from that.

LW: He had a big effect on me. I came from Don Robey and Evelyn Johnson [operators of Duke/Peacock Records] and then him. He kept me going, helped me have a place to stay, and he paid me. Then Lou Ann Barton did one of my songs ["Stop These Teardrops"], cuz he wanted her to do it. I was so shocked the day they told me Clifford passed away. I didn't eat for two or three days! It hurt.

LW: I was about 18. One of the old clubs that I sang in was the Hamilton Inn in the Fifth Ward of Houston. It was rough out there. I can remember getting onstage and trying to sing with a band and the audience was all "Booo! Sit down! No one wanna hear you!" I'd go ahead and try to sing anyway, doing Little Richard's tunes and stuff like that.

AC: In a 2003 interview with Margaret Moser, you made this appraisal of Austin music: "If you're a skinny white boy with a guitar, you got a gig. But no one wants to see a black woman with talent." Do you still feel that way?

LW: That's right. I speak the truth. It hasn't changed too much. I've gotten a lot of white fans, but it's like we can bend over backwards and turn a flip onstage and they'll look over us. Then someone else will come in and they'll run over you to see them.
