Thepresidential medallion is worn by the president of Wichita State University on significant or official ceremonial occasions as the symbolic manifestation of his role and responsibility as the chief officer of the university. The official seal of Wichita State University anchors the ceremonial anaglyph and is encircled by two hyperbolic forms designed to complement the university mace. The presidential medallion is suspended from black silk trimmed with gold.

Dr. Cynthia Lane is highly recognized for her leadership in the field of education. She has 40 years of professional experience, including 30 years in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools. Lane has received numerous awards and recognitions for leadership and advocacy for quality public-education, including being named Kansas Superintendent of the Year in 2016.


Lane considers it a privilege to serve. Her philosophy is to lead by example, cultivating strong relationships focused on shared vision and goals. She is passionate about empowering others through education. Lane continues to be involved and engaged within education community, cultivating partnerships between educators, business and civic leaders. Her attitude is that all things are possible when we come together to improve our futures.


In the summer of 2005, Chastain was selected as one of 15 educators in the United States to participate in the Fulbright German-American Teacher Linkage Program. Shawn has received the Outstanding Administrator Award from the Kansas Art Educators Association, Kansas Music Educators Association and Midwest Kodaly Music Educators of America. He is also a 2020 Wichita State University Fine Arts Hall of Fame inductee, 2022 Wichita Public Schools Good Apple award winner and the 2024 Outstanding Administrator by the Organization of American Kodaly Educators.


A coach, educator, and community builder, Marshall Cho has been a passionate advocate of basketball throughout his decades-long professional career. His unconventional journey from South Korea to the U.S., then to Africa and back again has instilled in him a wealth of experiences and expertise across a range of diverse cultural backgrounds, mentoring athletes at the college, high school, and youth levels and building bridges through the game of basketball both on and off the court.


Marshall began his career as an educator through the Teach For America program, teaching mathematics in the South Bronx and Harlem and serving as the boys basketball coach at Future Leaders Institute, where he led them to a New York City Charter School Championship.


Returning to the U.S., Marshall worked as an assistant coach at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md. During his time there, DeMatha won two WCAC championships, compiled an 88-19 record, and sent four players to the NBA: Victor Oladipo, Jerian Grant, Quinn Cook, Jerami Grant. He then embarked upon his next chapter back in his home state as Director of Basketball Operations at the University of Portland for the Portland Pilots.


Outside of his coaching positions, Marshall is a member of the board at the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association and the Oregon Basketball Coaches Association. Marshall is also a member of the Council of Korean Americans and was a NetKAL Class XI Fellow.
