Textile Silicone Hybrid Sensor Fabrication

Hello, our group followed the instructions to fabricate the sensor, but was unable to get any capacitor readings from the multimeter... (reading at pico Farad range).

Any suggestions as to why this is? We did get some reading when an external battery is connected to each plate.
