Welcome to the Official UNOFFICIAL Soferet National Novel Writing Month Email Group.

This group has been set up to encourage and support those frum women that have decided to add one more crazy thing to their long list of tasks. FIFTY THOUSAND WORDS in one month is no small feat and is certainly not for the faint at heart. But you can do it! And we are all here to encourage, advise and celebrate with you.

When you first sign up, please introduce yourself and, if you want to share, your working project name and a brief summary. Also include a little bit about your writing history and what your goals are for this November. Although 50K of a brand-new novel is the basic goal, there is no reason you need to accept it. Make a goal of 30K and we'll still be cheering you on! Or write 50 poems. All goals are welcome and something to be proud of. Goals in addition to the basic 50K are also encouraged. For example, write every day or finish the draft before editing.

First a few rules:

1. This is a safe place. No judging or looking down on anyone else. Like the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation magnet on my fridge says, "Before you [write] think 'How would I feel if someone said this about me?'"

2. Keep us updated. At least once a week (or every day if it helps you), let us know how you are doing (work count, time spent writing, etc.). Part of doing this together is keeping us in the loop so we can encourage each other.

3. No hijacking threads. If someone asks for help on their project, answer them (on or off list as appropriate) but don't post your own question in the same thread.

4. Make your subject meaningful. Use easy to understand tags like "Requesting Help: character development" "Progress Update: NAME" etc.

5. Have fun! We are writing because we love to.
