Since the 19th century, Warak Ngendog has been the symbol of aculturation in Semarang. Warak Ngendog is an iconic identity for Semarang. It was believed for a mythological animal that has a magic power. The Dragon Head represents Chinese culture, the body shaped like buraq to show the Arabian culture, and the four legs shaped just like goat's legs to symbolize Javanese culture. The word Warak came from an Arab word, "Wara'l", that means holy, while the word Ngendog means laying eggs. The two words combined have the meaning of whoever keep theirself holy during Ramadhan will get a reward in Eid Al-Fitri day. As aculturation is not something unfamiliar for Semarang, this year NSC would like to bring all the Executive Boards all over Indonesia to bring together their values for the greater impact for society. The NSC 2016 is calling, Semarang is welcoming you!
