Hey Nathan,
So, on our last SOC subcommittee call we kind of re-evaluated our goals as we saw them and we're really interested in what you thought about 1. how they are in general and 2. If/how they fit in with the overall ConsCom scheme of things. They are:
1. provide check-ins with organizers with no staff support/outreach
- once or twice a year check ins with unsupported regions
-"whats up? hows it going?" heres some resources. cool!
-difference from what we were doing: calling limited list of involved people in non-staffed regions
2. reaching out to new groups/people
- focus this by connecting completely new people with SSC campaigns/trainings/summits etc
-HOW: split up regionally, each person responsible for a region plug into campaigns, deliver materials/trainings/action plans etc, not much follow up required
-"Hey! We exist! Woo!"
3. State summits: are we down?
- combination of the two above
The third one is having to do with Craig and folks plan for running concurrent state summits this late summer/early fall. I think maybe Anna talked to you about this, but I'm not sure. Basically, if ConsCom took this project on, we would see ourselves being the outreach portion of this.
So, if you could let me/us know what you think about these and if you see them as running in agreement with what ConsCom is doing now and what we plan on doing, that would be awesome! Thanks man!

Hey guys, this is what I got back from Nathan a few days ago, sorry I took a while to forward it onward. It looks like what our goals are really fit into what, at least Nathan, thinks ConsCom should be. Also, as for the call, ConsCom itself is having a call tonight, I think at 8(?) that I was planning to be on, so maybe it would be more productive to see what comes out of this call tonight (I think it's focused on state networks) and proceed from there. Everyone down? Cool!

A couple of months ago I tried to get the cons.com to take them on and was discouraged by the staff because they were not sure how it fit into what they had planned with the eac. Not that there is a plan, but it wasn't a part of their planning ideas... i don't know... i dont think they do either =) I think that on the call on Monday I will bring this up again and see what people think. we are going to be talking about state networks so it should fit in. Are you going to be on the call? I think I will need all the help I can get if I am going to get the cons.com to take this on.
I really think we need to figure out how to get cons.com to work more cohesively (both internally and externally). Im not sure if it is our place as the SSC to take on specific campaigns... or if we are better served by generating and/or coordinating actions. The actions are great but if people dont tie them into a campaign of some sort they are like a fart in the wind (make a big stink and vanish). I dont think that any national group has a campaign going that the SSC is a big part of. The CCC is, but it is also too limited in community scale to be much more than a base building tool for effecting change in the larger community, as per the CCC 3yr plan. I feel that we/someone needs to develop a nationally cohesive, locally customizable, community based campaign... like the CCC, but based in cities, states, and the nation. I think that we are capable of crafting such a campaign as the SSC but it will take a lot of time and brainpower. Unfortunately, most of us are caught up in other areas of the movement at this moment and don't have the time to write up a CommunityCC workbook. There are some great materials being generated by the camp.mat from cons.com but they have yet to be tied to any overarching campaign or strategy.

Great. Thanks for being on that call, Aaron. I agree that it would be more productive to talk after the ConsCom call. Let's try to schedule a time for that.
