Hey all, here are the notes we took during the open space conversation at Winter Gathering regarding support for students in regions without staff/ making the SSC a truly nationwide organization.
-Juliana
Provide greater support for state networks - they provide peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities. Encourage state summits.
Follow up with NCEC regional coordinators
SOC - target phone banks to reach students where we don't have staff
facilitate and set up conference calls for state/local groups - bring together a couple of groups in the same area to provide venue for sharing ideas, building community
facilitate and set up phone banks for states with developing networks (create phone bank guide?)
facilitate communication between state leaders (set up calls to discuss what's working/what isn't in the various state networks)
SPROG grad conference calls? bring together SPROGs for a mid-year chat?
target BECC fellowship recruitment in regions where we don't have staff
actively connect groups w/ out regional staff to chapters/BEC staff/ other groups
vary shindig location from just East and West Coasts
follow up w/ students from January Climate Institute (send state networking guide once field team has it ready)
have interns work w/ field staff in their regions?
