Community Garden Cleanup

Gardeners,
We're nearing the end of our season. Have you cleared your plot in South Orange Community Garden?

Your plot should be cleared no later than Nov. 2. Please don't leave it for the last minute.

Your plot should be clear of all plants, weeds, mulch, plant supports, screws, nails, garden gnomes and anything else you put there. The next person who uses it will want a clean slate, just as you did last spring.

Bag up all plants, weeds and mulch in your plot and any weeds in the pathways around your plot. Take the bag out of the garden. Turn over the soil in your plot to help kill nasty bugs and other stuff that burrowed down in the soil during the summer.

Make sure the pathways around your plot are properly mulched for the winter. Spread a layer of newspaper on the ground and cover it with mulch. Newspaper is in the garden box, and there's a big mound of mulch outside. Use one of our wheelbarrows to bring it in.

We're relying on you to put the community garden to bed for the winter. Please do your part.
