The official contest rules say:
"Open Source Organizations will judge each Entry according to the following equally weighted factors: (1) Creativity, (2) Thoroughness, (3) Quality of Work, and (4) Open Source Community Involvement. Each Open Source Organization will then determine the Participant with the highest overall score for Completed Tasks set by that Organization (Grand Prize Winner)"
Is there some sort of spreadsheet we'll be expected to turn in with the scores each completed task, or can we just say, "We picked $student"?
Nope, you just need to let me know, in private mail, which student you selected, along with a brief blurb about why, e.g.:
"Jane Doe was selected as the Grand Prize Winner for Project X because of her great contributions to the documentation for our installer. However, what really made Jane stand out to us was her tireless efforts to answer the questions of her fellow GHOP students; she answered many questions for us in IRC and on the mailing lists promptly and with a great attitude."
We could tell you -- but then we'd have to kill you...
Seriously, we had a brief discussion that narrowed down the candidates
pretty well. I'm not sure what to do next; just have every mentor vote?

At the ASF we identified a few potential Grand Prize candidates a few
days ago, I'll get the ball rolling on a final selection.

Andre Klapper (who really did most of the day-to-day GHOP work for
GNOME) identified four candidates, and now, we're just not sure how to
choose the winner. I guess it means it's a tough choice ;-)
