Advantages of Socket.IO

Hello everybody,

I'm new to Node.js and Socket.IO and I played a bit with it.

But I am wondering about the differences between the net class and
socket.io at the server side.
Are there any advantages at socket.io? Or can I also use the net class
at the server and at client side socket.io?

Socket.IO is like the net class, but it enables communication between a node.js server and a browser. And that browser can be any browser :)

i think the net mudle is just for tcp purposes.

socket.io is for http purposes

Yeah, thats the client, right? I read about the feature that you use websockets and if they are not available you use flash/long time polling etc.

But was I ment: If I build a server with node.js and I use the net class, are there any differences to socket.io?
