Hi,

Sorry for posting two topics in parallel.
I am trying to figure how much are people using socket.io in production out there.

Particularly interested in (not chat) applications but applications that stream data from a cloud based service to a large number of clients.
Beyond hearing of such cases, additional points of interest would be breadth of smoothly served mobile clients (in terms of device diversity and number of mobile clients) and whether any security blockage has been encountered with non-mobile clients in any geographies.

Also which socket.io transports have been chosen in the socket.io configuration.

Thanks in advance,
Matan

Hi Matan,

SolNovus (www.solnovus.com) is using socket.io in production.

If you have questions about details, please ask our CTO, Scott Halstvedt, whom I've CC'd here.

Thanks!

I'm about to launch an app (iPhone, Android, web) using socket.io
I'm using websocket and xhr-polling transports - but not interested in supporting IE below 10
To serve clients smoothly, especially for websockets - you should really use SSL.
Without SSL firewalls will kill you.
There are tons of idiosyncracies - just see the number of outstanding issues and pull requests.
What kind of data are you streaming?

We use socket.io to power our visitor analytics solution
We have socket.io hooked directly into RabbitMQ messaging and send c.5M events per day through this technology
