Information concerning the the 2012 – 2013 Dissertation Fellowship has been distributed to all G8 students. For your reference the information that was provided to students is included in this email:
The Texas A&M University Office of Graduate Studies is offering a Dissertation Fellowship to support students in the dissertation phase of their degree program during the 2012-13 academic year. This fellowship is intended to support doctoral students in the final analysis of the research topic and the final writing of the dissertation, and will be awarded to 10 students who will graduate by August 2013.
PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION in the attached document carefully and follow the guidelines for application. Students can apply online at http://ogs.tamu.edu/current-students/fellowships-awards/fellowships/ All application materials must be submitted online (including letter of support from advisor) by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012. Awards will be announced in late June.
Please note that once a student submits the application online their Committee Chair or Advisor will be notified by email with instructions for uploading a letter of recommendation to the website. The letter of recommendation must be uploaded no later than 7 days after the application is submitted. The criteria that MUST be in your committee chair’s letter is outlined in the last paragraph of the application. The letter must include:
(1) a statement attesting to the viability of the proposed timeline for completion;
(2) a statement that the Advisor is satisfied with the student’s progress and is expecting the student to graduate by August 2013;
(3) a specific statement on the potential impact of the student’s scholarly work on society in his/her field of study
(4) If the student has been supported by the advisor in AY 2011-12, please state if funding will be available for all or part of AY 2012-13. If it will not be available, state why.
