About the Department of Multicultural Services (DMS)
The Department of Multicultural Services is a sixteen member staff within the Division of Student Affairs. The Department of Multicultural Services provides multiple support services for current and prospective students from underrepresented populations and diversity education programs that foster inclusive leaning environments for all students. The Department promotes student success through academic support, diversity education, the enhancement of life and leadership, advocacy, and mentoring skills. The Department of Multicultural Services is seeking dynamic applicants to join a progressive team.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Monitor the Department’s Content Management System website.
· Manage the weekly updates of news & events
· Update DMS general calendar
· Create web pages for new events, news, photos.
· Update information on the website as needed
· Upload pictures, video, & graphics
· Test and troubleshoot web page features
2. Update Facebook page/profile daily.
· Create event pages
· Expand the DMS’ friends/fans
· Upload pictures/videos
· Monitor the page/discussion boards
· Research the social network marketing trends
· Be creative in developing social activities
3. Create and organize picture database on F lickr.
· Select several pictures to be uploaded online
· Upload pictures after each event
· Provide information on each pictures
· Take pictures at events when needed
4. Assist in the Department events’ & programs’ posters/calendar/email.
· Generate posters from the template
· Generate email notification
· Create facebook events
5. Assist DMS event campaigns.
· Find marketing venues within Texas A&M campus
· Assist in executing the campaign
6. Be present at the staff meeting
7. Help in other marketing projects such as editing podcasts, videos, and pictures slideshows.
8. Assist at the department events as needed.
Job Requirements:
· Texas A&M University Graduate student
· Knowledgeable in marketing area
· Knowledge in MS Office & basic Adobe (minimal photoshop)
· Have previous experience in managing a website, preferably a website managed by a Content Management System (ie. Drupal-a website system Student Activities uses)
· Basic knowledge of visual art
Salary/Benefit:
· $11.54/hour, 20 hours a week (~ $1000 a month)
· Benefit eligible
· Tuition waiver dependent upon field of study and approval
