Dear Bianca Tame,

We are pleased to share with you the attached Call for Chapters for an upcoming edited volume, Shades of Belonging: Communicating Identity and Representation of the Coloured Body in South Africa, to be published by the University of Johannesburg Press.

This book addresses the sociological dimensions of belonging, identity formation, and representation within South Africa's Coloured community, a group whose histories and lived realities remain underexplored in mainstream scholarship. The volume will examine themes such as the politics of belonging, intersectionality, marginalisation, resilience, and the role of institutions in shaping identity.

Given your association's dedication to advancing sociological research and dialogue, we believe this project will be of significant interest to your members, particularly those engaged in race and ethnicity studies, cultural sociology, political sociology, and post-colonial analysis.

We would be grateful if you could assist in promoting this Call for Chapters (attached) through your communication channels, thereby encouraging contributions from scholars whose expertise can enrich this important work.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to the possibility of collaboration.

Warm regards,

Dr Janell Le Roux (University of Johannesburg) & Prof Toks Oyedemi (University of Limpopo)
