Greetings colleagues,
Please take note of the following motion/proposal, introduced at 2024 SASA AGM by the Council, to be discussed at the AGM this week.
Following the unsuccessful NPO application in 2022 due to constitutional gaps (e.g., undefined financial year), SASA initiated a review process. Initial consultations included engagements with Inyathelo and the Department of Social Development (DSD). In November 2024, Mr. Sallvon Fransman, Acting Deputy Director of Institutional Capacity Building at DSD, provided critical
feedback on the revised draft constitution, confirming its alignment with legal standards while recommending further refinements. The constitutional review has achieved significant milestones, including successful NPC
registration, positioning SASA for successful NPO registration. By adopting a streamlined constitution and robust by-laws, SASA will enhance governance flexibility and compliance. The Council urges members to endorse these changes at the 2025 Congress.
Best,
