Dear SASA Members,

The South African Sociological Association (SASA) is pleased to announce the annual Essay Writing Competition!

This is a fantastic opportunity for postgraduate students (Honours, Masters, and Doctoral) to showcase their sociological writing skills and potentially shape their future.

Competition Details:

Categories: EITHER: Honours & Master's; OR, Doctoral  

Word Limit: 8,000 words maximum (including references)  

Format: MS Word document  

Referencing Style: South African Review of Sociology Journal conventions  

Judging Criteria: Originality, clarity, structure, adherence to conventions, and publishability  

Closing Date: May 30th, 2025  

Prizes:

1st Place: Book Prize, SASA Certificate, 1-year SASA Membership + 1-year SASA Congress Fees  

2nd Place: SASA Certificate
