Dynamic Governance: Weathering the Recession Using Management Systems
When suddenly caught in a credit crunch, any business leader can feel overwhelmed, even panicky. It's a time that needs, from every mind in the organization, passionate thinking and creativity. This case study shows how a 50-person, ISO 9000-certified specialty parts manufacturer is using "dynamic governance" to cope. Dynamic governance is an ISO 9000-compatible quality leadership method, developed in the Netherlands, that enables rapid, self-organizing adjustments in marketing, manufacturing processes, personnel policies, overhead operations, and supplier relations. The continuous improvement features of ISO 9000 and dynamic governance are tapping into all available resources by mobilizing highly creative problem solving in every part of the company.

Facilitating Effective Decisions
This course is equivalent to the first day of the two-day course: Effective Decisions and Working Together in Management Teams (see below). It introduces the principles of dynamic governance and demonstrates how to use them to build broad support and high-commitment for your organization's policy decisions. Dynamic governance, developed originally in the Netherlands, is a systems-based approach to structuring and leading organizations that is highly congruent with the cybernetic principles underlying the ISO 9001:2008 international quality standard. The course provides highly interactive opportunities to practice a variety of facilitation situations from helping a group assign its members to tasks and functions to developing effective strategies for handling vaguely defined problems or opportunities. Participants develop skills and insights through group exercises and in-depth discussions.

This course is equivalent to the first module of the six-day course: Practical Dynamic Tools and Insights for Managers and Organizational Advisors. It introduces the principles of dynamic governance and demonstrates how to use them to achieve high-commitment decision-making and outstandingly effective management teams. Using the systems principles embedded in quality standards such as ISO 9001, learn how to create unprecedented synergy between the grapevine and the formal organization.
