Politics of the Medium
of Instruction in Schools
By Dr. Chaise LaDousa
Hamilton College, USA
Abstract: The duality of Hindi and English medium education is well known in Indian society. This presentation attempts to engage in a post-structural framework in order to identify voices that complicate the duality of language medium, but does so in an effort to show that such complications are not easily reproduced.
Chaise LaDousa is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Hamilton College in the US. His research focuses on language and culture, particularly on the ways in which institutions serve as loci for cultural production. He is the author of House Signs and Collegiate Fun: Sex, Race, and Faith in a College Town.
