In the guise of helping the oppressed - the political Factions have taken and gained strategic advantages.
The Politicians and the System have once again Misused everything to their advantage.
Oh God Why I was born in India? That is the only asking i can do, now
China has policies similar to affirmative action, known as preferential policies (优惠政策), providing advantages in education and jobs for ethnic minorities (like Tibetans, Uyghurs) and students from poor/remote regions, giving bonus points for university entrance exams and special language schooling, but it's not a caste-based system like India's, focusing more on socio-economic & regional disadvantage rather than inherited caste status. China also makes legal reservations (reservations) to international treaties, such as to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) regarding family planning, and has commercial/arbitration reservations like the New York Convention, impacting legal enforcement.
Affirmative Action/Reservations in China (Socio-Economic & Ethnic):
Purpose: To address disparities for ethnic minorities and disadvantaged groups in education and employment.
Beneficiaries: 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities, students from remote areas, and poor provinces.
Examples:
Education: Extra points on the Gaokao (college entrance exam) for minorities, special language education.
Employment: Preferential policies in government jobs.
Difference from India: Not based on a rigid caste system, but on national minority status and economic hardship, though it also sparks debates about merit.
International Treaty Reservations (Legal Context):
China enters reservations when signing international agreements to ensure compliance with domestic law.
Examples:
CRC: Reservation on the right to life, linking it to China's family planning policies.
New York Convention: Reservations concerning reciprocal treatment and commercial arbitration.
In essence, "reservation in China" refers to both affirmative actions for disadvantaged groups in social policy and formal reservations made to international legal commitments.
