Dear @IncomeTaxIndia,

Please refer to the attached .

I request your kind attention to the language used in recent ITR-related intimations. The tone appears more like a warning or threat than an informative communication. Kindly clarify the intention.

Since these are intimations, the wording may be more respectful and encouraging, guiding taxpayers to file their returns to avoid future issues.

There can be several genuine reasons for non-filing, many of which may be beyond the control of the taxpayer. Communication that creates fear or panic is discouraging and may adversely affect compliant taxpayers.

It is important to acknowledge that a very small percentage of the population pays taxes and they contribute their hard-earned money with the belief that it will be used responsibly for public welfare. At the same time, taxpayers are aware and concerned that public funds are also vulnerable to misuse by those in positions of power, including politicians and bureaucrats. This makes respectful, trust-building communication even more essential.

Taxpayers are not criminals — they are contributors to national development.Govt  is in need of  this resource .So,a  polite and dignified tone in notices and communications will go a long way in strengthening confidence, trust, and voluntary compliance.

Thank you.

Tax evasion occurs when individuals or organizations fail to report their true income on their tax returns, an illegal act punishable by law. While tax savings through legal investments are permissible, dishonest methods constitute a crime and lead to tax evasion penalties such as imprisonment or heavy monetary fines. It's a criminal act.
Compliance is a must as enforcement of any act.  There are no reasons adduced after a long wait by the Govt where normal assessee would have done it but only evader will postpone. Representative assessee system is also there; thumb impression is there; and telling carelessly there could be so many reasons for enquiry. Of Course respect is required; but if the evader needs the respect, then what the prompt filer will need? It is 2% or or 90% or 100% that does matter; it is obedience and not the act of perversions.   The notices that came with respects before were thrown to the dust bins hence now such notice as afinality. Hope reason does prevail. Anger is of no use as no one knows whether there is a criminality or otherwise to a 3rd person and non complaince require enforcement nf the enforcement itself is aharsh procedure for those non-genuine persons.
