Dear @IncomeTaxIndia,
Please refer to the attached .
I request your kind attention to the language used in recent ITR-related intimations. The tone appears more like a warning or threat than an informative communication. Kindly clarify the intention.
Since these are intimations, the wording may be more respectful and encouraging, guiding taxpayers to file their returns to avoid future issues.
There can be several genuine reasons for non-filing, many of which may be beyond the control of the taxpayer. Communication that creates fear or panic is discouraging and may adversely affect compliant taxpayers.
It is important to acknowledge that a very small percentage of the population pays taxes and they contribute their hard-earned money with the belief that it will be used responsibly for public welfare. At the same time, taxpayers are aware and concerned that public funds are also vulnerable to misuse by those in positions of power, including politicians and bureaucrats. This makes respectful, trust-building communication even more essential.
Taxpayers are not criminals — they are contributors to national development.Govt is in need of this resource .So,a polite and dignified tone in notices and communications will go a long way in strengthening confidence, trust, and voluntary compliance.
Thank you.
