I still recall the sages saying that we are like rivers continually journeying towards the Big Ocean. Once we reach our destiny, we loose our identity as rivers. For in the Big Ocean, there are no more rivers.
If this is so, then, our real identity is not the river (read "body and mind") for the latter is impermanent and it dies so the real I or Self can finally merge with the Big Ocean.
But why do we keep identifying ourselves with the river when in fact we are not? And if we are not the river, then, who is this Real I or Self in us?
Life is a process of knowing and realizing who we really are and Self-realization is worthwhile attaining. For it can influence our ways of dealing with our environment and one another.
This could be the last alternative paradigm left for us to effectively transform our systems of politics and governance.
Just something to reflect on.
