Abstract Submission Deadline for the Society for Anthropological Sciences Spring 2023 Meetings Extended through October 31

The abstract submission deadline for the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Society for Applied Anthropology in Cincinnati, Ohio, is extended to 11:59 p.m. CT, Monday, October 31, 2022.

Institutional disruptions, delays, and uncertainties have made it difficult for many who were planning to submit abstracts. Therefore, SfAA leadership has extended the deadline to make sure everyone who wants to submit an abstract for the annual meeting, March 28-April 1, 2023, will have sufficient time to do so.

To securely register and submit your abstract go to:

Virtual Option

While we hope to see you in Cincinnati, if you cannot join us in person, we encourage you to take advantage of the annual meeting’s online option. When submitting your abstract please select “online.” You will then be able to record your session in advance.

Hotel Information

The Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, an AAA Four Diamond property, will serve as the host hotel for the annual meeting. The Netherland combines the elegance of one of the world’s grandest hotels with the modern conveniences and amenities today’s travelers expect. Its historic significance has earned the property recognition through the National Historic Register and as a charter member of the Historic Hotels of America. The Netherland is but a few steps from Fountain Square, the focal point of downtown, and close to the historic neighborhoods and entertainment districts of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

To book your discounted guest room and for other travel information go to our website:

We strongly encourage you to make your lodging reservations at your earliest convenience. Please help keep conference costs low by booking a guest room at the Netherland Plaza. SfAA pays a penalty if rooms in the negotiated room block are not filled, and these penalties could result in higher registration fees for future conferences.

Travel Support to the SfAA Annual Meeting for Students

SfAA supports a number of student travel awards, each worth $500. The awards may be used for expenses related to travel to the annual meeting. You must submit a paper or poster abstract for on-site presentation at the annual meeting to be eligible for a travel award. Please go to https://www.appliedanthro.org/annual-meeting/awards-prizes for additional information.

Contact the SfAA Office at (405) 843-5113 or email at in...@appliedanthro.org if you have any questions or difficulties with accessing the web site.
We look forward to seeing you March 28-April 1, 2023.
