SAS members and colleagues,
In my capacity as SAS Past-President and head of our Nominations committee, I’m writing to encourage you to nominate yourself or others for an open Executive Board position.
In 2025, we have four positions for which we are seeking nominations:
President-Elect - 2 year term, followed by 2 years as President and 2 years as Past President
Treasurer – 2 year term
Executive Board Member – 3 year term
Student Board Member – 2 year term
In particular, if you have a student who may be interested in this role but may not see this email, please let them know. Student members are a key means by which we ensure the future health of the Society and many of our current senior executives are former
Student Board Members.
We're a pretty congenial bunch on the Board, and we are definitely open to people who haven't served on the Board previously, except for the president-elect, where we do encourage people to get experience in some other role first. Student Member and Executive
Board is where many of us got our start.
To nominate yourself,
send the following material directly to me (Stephen Chrisomalis) at chris...@wayne.edu:
-
Name
-
Email address
-
The position you wish to run for
-
A brief biography (max. 250 words, can be significantly less): including present job title/position; research interests/field, key publications; any other key positions held in scholarly societies)
-
A brief platform (max. 250 words and can be significantly less): why you want to serve in this role, how your experience can benefit SAS

We are running our nominations and elections on a quicker-than-usual schedule this year, so we are asking for nominations to be received no later than
March 20.
Please feel free to contact me at
chris...@wayne.edu if you are interested in running for any of these offices and I can provide a little more information about what’s expected from each role. I, and several other Board members, will be at the SfAA/SAS
spring meeting and we're happy to talk to you there about what these positions entail. If you wish to nominate someone else, provide me their contact information and I will reach out to them to confirm the nomination directly and have them submit the required
material.
Cheers,
