we are hoping to attract cultural model and/or affordance researchers for two panels at the SFAA meetings in portland March 24-29. we have till the end of this month to enlist panelists. Surely there are a few out there willing to participate. my interest (not so much Giovanni's) is the interaction or the complementary function (?) of affordances with CMs; Giovanni's interest (if I can speak for him) is in foundational models--the use of cultural models across several cultural domains. there are many more perspectives one can employ, bring them to Portland.
We do not have enough examples of cultural models at work or at home; what triggers them? what is their relationship to the brain? how do they interact with each other; is the self a cultural model and if so does it sleep? are CM's specifically an outcome of iterative behaviors in the more or less same microcontexts? how many iterative behaviors are needed to make one? suppose the iterations vary? how do we compose a cultural model? are they used for predicting future outcomes, they seem to have causal power but how do we prove that? how can we define them are they holistic and porous or hardbound and cohesive,
we know a teensy bit, There is a lot more for us to explore. these two panels give us the opportunity to pose our understandings and conjectures and to get feedback. what are you waiting for ? a weeping archangel?
if interested contact me or Giovanni.
